Performative Costume Design

For this video, I created a stationary garment that Emily Ritz moves through. The garment is 11 yards long with a zipper running through its entire length, and is anchored to the ground on all four sides by an armature. I hand made the brass collar with a zipper pull attached to the front and another at the back to transform Emily into the mechanism that unzips the garment in front of her while simultaneously zipping it back up behind her as she walks.
